Greece pledges solidarity with Germany after Russian hybrid attack in Leipzig

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has expressed full solidarity with Germany following what has been described as a Russian hybrid attack in Leipzig. The incident involved a drone carrying an explosive mechanism that was discovered at the Leipzig/Halle airport on August 4, near Ukrainian cargo aircraft.

German government officials, including Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt and Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, have directly accused Russia of the incident, suggesting it may be part of a series of hybrid attacks. In response, Germany has announced plans to close the Russian consulate in Bonn and terminate the contract for the Russian House in Berlin.

Mitsotakis stated that attempts to intimidate democratic nations will not succeed and emphasized that Greece remains committed to maintaining credible deterrence to ensure the security of its citizens.
