Greece: 21-year-old recovers after drug overdose in Paros

A 21-year-old woman has been taken off life support and is recovering after collapsing in Paros due to the consumption of a substance she identified as ‘G’ (GHB). The woman, who was initially treated in a coma at Tzaneio Hospital in Athens, spoke publicly to clarify that the ingestion was a personal decision made during a social gathering.

She stated that she intended to experiment with the substance, which she had obtained weeks prior at a rave in Athens, and mixed it with a soft drink rather than alcohol to avoid dangerous combinations. She reported experiencing dizziness and numbness before losing consciousness.

The woman explicitly defended her 23-year-old partner, denying allegations of abuse or non-consensual administration of the substance. While the partner was detained as part of a police investigation into drug possession, the woman emphasized that he was unaware of her actions and would have attempted to stop her had he known. Medical officials noted that timely intervention by local doctors in Paros was critical to her survival.
