Greece police investigate separate shooting incidents
Police in Greece are investigating two distinct shooting incidents involving firearms in different regions.
In Nea Ionia, Volos, a passenger in a moving vehicle fired shots at a two-story house during the afternoon. Witnesses reported that the gunfire struck a balcony, causing damage to the plasterwork. The homeowner reportedly appeared on the balcony with a weapon following the shots. Residents in the area expressed significant concern for public safety, noting the proximity of local businesses and a tutoring center.
In a village within the Gortyna Municipality in Messara, a parked vehicle belonging to a minor's grandfather was targeted in a shooting following a verbal altercation. Authorities have identified a minor as the primary perpetrator, with another youth suspected of involvement. The shots damaged the vehicle's passenger side, including the mirror and fuel tank. Investigators believe the motive stems from long-standing livestock disputes. The minor's mother has been arrested for neglect of supervision.
