Greek politicians warn of potential social unrest similar to France
Former Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and ELAS official Panos Lamprinidis-Stachtos have raised concerns regarding potential mass social unrest in Greece, drawing comparisons to recent protests in France. Tsipras criticized the policies of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, comparing them to those of French President Emmanuel Macron and suggesting that economic pressures could lead to a social explosion.
Lamprinidis-Stachtos predicted that students and university students might take to the streets in November, citing the housing crisis and the rising cost of living as primary drivers for mobilization. He noted that social dissatisfaction is currently visible across several European countries, including France, Italy, and Spain.
In response, Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis accused those calling for such movements of seeking to incite chaos. He stated that such intentions would be judged by voters in upcoming elections.
