Greece to announce 2 billion euro economic package at Thessaloniki International Fair

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is set to announce a major economic package, estimated to exceed 2 billion euros, at the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF). The plan serves as a long-term roadmap for Greece toward 2030, with significant measures scheduled to be implemented in phases, primarily starting in 2027.

Key social and economic measures include a projected increase in the minimum wage to 960-970 euros in 2027 and over 1,000 euros in 2028. Retiree benefits are expected to rise, with November bonuses potentially increasing from 300 to 400 euros. The package also targets housing stability through potential low-interest loans and protections for primary residences.

For businesses and professionals, the government is considering reducing tax advances for legal entities to 50% by 2030 and introducing a 'consistency clause' to reward taxpayers with high compliance profiles through tax relief. Additionally, energy investments are expected to reach 1.1 billion euros, focusing on renewables and storage. The government also aims to reduce social security contributions and address the cost of living through measures such as lower prices for basic consumer goods.
