Greece prepares social support package to address demographic crisis

The Greek government is preparing a series of social and demographic measures to be announced in conjunction with the International Economic Forum. The proposed package aims to address the country's demographic challenges and increase disposable income for vulnerable groups.

Key proposals include increasing the child allowance by up to 30% and equalizing the benefits and privileges of families with three children with those of larger families. Additionally, the government is considering raising financial support for certain pensioners from 300 to 450 euros, based on specific income and asset criteria.

The broader strategy includes eight measures focused on supporting families with children. This encompasses tax relief, housing assistance such as low-interest loans and rent subsidies for young parents, and improvements to childcare and healthcare infrastructure. The plan also seeks to promote work-life balance through flexible working arrangements and enhanced parental leave protections.
