Greece pursues Nations League Final Four bid and referee representation

Greek football leadership is pursuing multiple strategic objectives within UEFA. Makis Gagatsis, President of the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO), has engaged in discussions in Berlin regarding Greece's potential bid to host the Nations League Final Four in June 2027.

To secure the hosting rights, Greece must meet three primary conditions: the national team must qualify for the quarter-finals and subsequently reach the Final Four; the opponent in the quarter-finals must also express interest in hosting; and the Greek government must provide official support through relevant ministries.

Separately, concerns have been raised regarding the low number of Greek referees appointed to UEFA club competitions. Despite claims of progress from federation officials, recent schedules for the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League show minimal Greek representation, with only one referee appointed to a major fixture during the mid-October period.
