Greece unveils seven-point industrial transformation plan
The Greek government has unveiled a seven-point strategic plan aimed at transforming the nation's industrial model. Presented during a Government Industrial Committee meeting, the plan focuses on reducing bureaucracy, attracting new investments, and securing a significant share of the European Competitiveness Fund.
Key pillars of the strategy include:
- Accelerating 11 pending reforms, such as the implementation of the Digital Business Activity Bulletin and simplifying business startup/closure processes. - Supporting productive investments exceeding €3.7 billion through development laws. - Addressing energy costs by mobilizing over €700 million by 2030, including €500 million to alleviate the burden on energy-intensive industries. - Investing €200 million via the Modernization Fund for green transition initiatives. - Upgrading technical professions through a national agenda to align skills with manufacturing needs.
Minister of Development Takis Theodorakakis stated that the strategy aims to use industry as a lever for growth, regional reinforcement, and security, noting that recent investments have already created 60,000 new industrial jobs with higher average annual wages compared to the rest of the economy.
