Greece ranks 7th globally in new generosity study

A global study conducted by Remitly has ranked Greece as the 7th most generous nation in the world. Using the Interpersonal Generosity Scale, the research measured generosity through empathy, emotional support, patience, and the willingness to prioritize others' needs over one's own.

Greece achieved an average score of 47.62 out of 60, making it one of only four European countries to appear in the top ten, alongside Ireland, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. South Africa ranked first globally with a score of 51.57, followed by nations such as the Philippines and the United States in the top ten.

The findings highlight a strong cultural emphasis on hospitality, known as ‘philoxenia’, and community responsibility within Greek society.
