Greece ranks high in mobile and fixed internet speed reports
Recent reports highlight significant performance in Greece's telecommunications sector. According to the Opensignal Mobile Network Experience Report published in September 2026, Telekom was recognized as the top mobile provider in the country. The company led in download speeds, upload speeds, and 5G network performance. Specifically, Telekom achieved download speeds of 72 Mbps, compared to 55.5 Mbps for Vodafone.
In terms of market share, data from the Hellenic Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT) indicated that as of late 2024, Telekom held 44.4% of the mobile market, followed by Vodafone at 34.1% and Nova at 21.5%. While 3G networks have been decommissioned to bolster 4G and 5G capacity, 2G usage remains high in Greece for voice calls and Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
Regarding fixed broadband, nPerf data for the July-September 2026 quarter shows Greece ranked second among countries with land areas between 95,000 and 180,000 km². Greece recorded an average fixed download speed of 115.89 Mbps, trailing only Bulgaria, which reached 136.46 Mbps.
