Greece ready to provide naval assistance in Strait of Hormuz

Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis has expressed Greece's readiness to cooperate with the United States to provide naval assistance in the Strait of Hormuz, should conditions permit and a sustainable peace process be in place. This announcement followed a meeting in Athens with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during the sixth round of the Greece-U.S. Strategic Dialogue.

Gerapetritis noted that Greece's existing maritime operations in the Red Sea, the Mediterranean, and the Indian Ocean complement American initiatives, emphasizing the country's role in protecting freedom of navigation. He described Greece as a security provider and a pillar of stability in the region, citing its ability to export security to Cyprus, Bulgaria, and Gulf nations due to its advanced defense systems and geopolitical position.
