Greece recalls Strawbar Origin strawberry distillate due to methanol

The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) has issued an immediate recall for a specific batch of strawberry distillate due to dangerous methanol levels. Laboratory testing conducted by the General Directorate of the State General Chemical Laboratory revealed that the methanol concentration exceeds the legal limit for this category of alcoholic beverage.

The affected product is ‘STRAWBAR ORIGIN’, an alcoholic beverage with 40% vol. contained in 50cl bottles. The recall specifically concerns batch number 003. The product was manufactured by the ‘ENTEKA’ Distillery-Distillery (Ioannis N. Kokkaliaris) located in Nea Nikopoli, Kozani, and distributed by ‘Life Science Lab College Μονοπρόσωπη Α. Ε.’.

Following the discovery during scheduled inspections by the Macedonia Special Economic Audit Unit and the Chemical Service of Central Macedonia, the distributor has begun the immediate withdrawal of all bottles from batch 003 from the domestic market. AADE has urged consumers who have already purchased this specific batch not to consume it to protect public health.
