Greece Receives EU Commission Green Light for “Greece 2.0” Recovery Plan Revision

The European Commission issued a positive opinion on Greece’s revised National Recovery and Resilience Plan, “Greece 2.0,” which the Greek government submitted on 8 May. The assessment confirms that the plan’s design complies with Commission guidance and opens the way for final approval by the European Union Council.

The revision seeks to finalise the plan’s milestones to ensure the full absorption of EU recovery funds. It introduces project‑based adjustments and internal reallocations, but the total financing amount remains unchanged. Targeted enhancements include more preventive health checks under the “Prevent I” programme, the extension of primary seismic inspections to an additional 2,000 sports facilities nationwide, the acquisition of 130 electric waste‑collection vehicles for the Attica region, participation in the capital increase of the Public Power Corporation (ADME) for the 2025‑2034 Development Programme, expanded micro‑satellite systems for secure connectivity and critical space infrastructure, broader deployment of photovoltaic systems for homes and farms, and extended local urban‑planning studies and upgrades to cultural‑site infrastructure.
