Greek banks see strong deposit and loan growth in June 2026
In June 2026 household deposits rose by €995 million month‑on‑month, putting the annual growth rate at 4.3 %. Business (non‑financial) deposits increased by €7.5 billion, with an annual growth of 23 %. Overall private‑sector deposits grew by €8.5 billion, a 9.3 % rise over the year. Government deposits edged up €181 million while their annual change slipped to –1.7 %.
Credit flow also accelerated. Net monthly financing to enterprises was positive €2.9 billion, and the annual growth rate of loan exposure to enterprises rose to 10.2 %. Financing to non‑financial enterprises held steady with a 9.8 % annual change, while loan flow to insurance and other financial institutions climbed 13.2 % year‑on‑year. Household loan financing grew modestly, with an annual increase of 2.6 %.
