Greece rent rebate program to distribute up to 800 euros
Renters in Greece are expected to receive rent rebates by the end of November 2026, based on payments made during 2025. The subsidy, which covers both primary residences and student housing, provides a one-time payment equivalent to 1/12 of the total annual rent paid in the previous year.
The maximum rebate amount is 800 euros, though this ceiling increases by 50 euros for each dependent child. For example, a family with two children would have a maximum limit of 900 euros. However, the actual amount received is always determined by the 1/12 rule of the total annual expenditure, even if the ceiling is higher.
Eligibility is determined by income and asset criteria. For single individuals, the income limit is 25,000 euros, while for married couples or partners in a civil union, the limit is 35,000 euros. These thresholds increase by 5,000 euros for each dependent child. Single-parent households have a starting income limit of 39,000 euros. Payments will be made via a one-time bank transfer to accounts registered with the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE).
