Greece reports 16.5% increase in goods exports through August 2026

Greek exports of goods reached 37.1 billion euros during the eight-month period from January to August 2026, marking a 16.5% increase compared to the same period in 2025. According to data from the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, non-petroleum exports also saw growth, rising 7.6% to 26.4 billion euros.

While imports increased by 8.2%, the growth rate remained significantly lower than that of exports. This trend contributed to a 3.8% reduction in the total trade deficit, which stood at 21.18 billion euros. Excluding petroleum products, the trade deficit decreased by 5.3%, a reduction of approximately 1 billion euros.

In August alone, exports grew by 26.7% on an annual basis. Deputy Foreign Minister Charis Theocharis noted that these figures indicate an expansion of the country's export base and a strengthening of the economy's resilience.
