Greece reports nationwide low wildfire risk as heatwave approaches

The General Secretariat of Civil Protection issued a fire‑risk forecast map for Saturday 6 June 2026 showing the entire Greek territory in category 1, the lowest risk level. No areas are marked medium, high or very high, and no fire‑alert zones are in effect. The map notes that the official fire‑season runs from 1 May to 31 Oct and urges citizens to stay vigilant in outdoor activities.

Meteorological services also forecast hot temperatures across the country, reaching 30‑34 °C in many regions and locally up to 36 °C, with strong northerly winds (6‑7 Bft) over the Aegean. Those conditions could raise the danger of forest fires despite the low official risk rating.
