Greek Minister of State Akis Skertsos has highlighted significant growth in both the number of businesses and employees over a seven-year period, citing data from ERGANI. According to the figures covering June 2019 to June 2026, the number of wage-paying businesses rose by 49,289, representing a 16.9% increase. During the same timeframe, the total number of employees grew by 577,742, a 24.6% increase, rising from 2,344,269 to 2,922,011.

Skertsos emphasized that these metrics provide a more direct reflection of the economy's impact on citizens' daily lives compared to broader indicators like GDP growth or debt reduction. He specifically addressed criticisms regarding the impact of government policy on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), noting that growth was observed across all business categories.

Data shows micro-businesses (1-4 employees) increased by 15%, very small businesses (5-10 employees) by 21%, small businesses (11-50 employees) by 21%, and medium-sized businesses (51-250 employees) by 24.6%. Large enterprises with more than 250 employees also saw a 17.6% increase.
