Greece responds to EU report on training program irregularities

The Greek Ministry of National Economy and Finance has stated that the government remains open to all levels of national and European scrutiny following a European Commission report regarding serious irregularities in training programs.

The Ministry noted that the institutional framework governing the design and implementation of these training actions, including tenders, was developed between 2020 and 2022 in cooperation with and under the guidance of the European Commission. It further clarified that the tenders had been sampled and checked by the European Court of Auditors (ECA) and were approved by the Court of Audit.

According to the Ministry, the ECA report explicitly mentions that the relevant services followed the procedures established by the national institutional framework. Greece is currently examining legal possibilities to challenge the findings of the report. The government also emphasized that any necessary financial corrections will be covered by other EU funds to prevent the loss of European resources.
