Greece: Road closures scheduled in Crete and Thessaloniki

Several planned traffic disruptions are scheduled across Greece for Wednesday, August 26, 2026, due to ongoing infrastructure projects.

In Crete, a brief traffic interruption will occur on the Neapoli-Agios Nikolaos section of the Northern Cretan Axis Road (BOAK). Between 10:00 and 15:00, traffic will be halted near the Agios Nikolaos junction to allow for safe blasting operations related to the conversion of the road into a motorway.

In Thessaloniki, a nighttime closure is scheduled on the Thessaloniki Ring Road. From 23:00 on Wednesday until 05:00 on Thursday, the section between the Evkarpia and Meteora junctions will be closed in the direction of Kavala/Katerini to facilitate flyover construction works. Drivers will be diverted via Papandreou and Papanikolaou avenues.
