Greece: School assault in Ano Liosia and Vasilis Magos trial updates
In Ano Liosia, a father has admitted to physically assaulting a school principal at a local kindergarten. The incident, captured on video, shows the man striking the principal in the head after a dispute regarding a teacher's treatment of his child. The confrontation reportedly followed a separate incident where the principal was heard shouting threats at students. The father has criticized police procedures, alleging his four-year-old daughter was taken to a station and questioned without a parent present.
Separately, in Karditsa, the trial of six police officers accused of the fatal injury of Vasilis Magos has revealed significant contradictions. During the 16th session, officers testified that the 26-year-old appeared healthy and did not request medical help while in custody. However, forensic reports and medical testimony contradict these claims, stating Magos suffered severe injuries, including seven broken ribs and damage to his liver and gallbladder. The victim's father has denounced the police testimonies as a ‘parody’ of the truth.
