Greece secures three fifth-place finishes at Sambo World Championships

During the second day of the Cadet, Youth, and Junior Sambo World Championships held at the PAOK Sports Arena in Thessaloniki, Greek athletes secured three fifth-place finishes in the Junior categories.

Despoina Papadopoulou placed fifth in the -54 kg category, while Eleni Taxidou also finished fifth in the -72 kg category. Taxidou was unable to compete for a bronze medal due to an injury sustained during the preliminary rounds. In the +98 kg category, Georgios Tzigouzidis completed his first Sambo competition by taking fifth place.

Previously, Greece earned a bronze medal in the Youth category through Nikolaos Nikolaidis in the +98 kg division, marking the country's first medal in that specific age category since 2022.
