Greece faces hot summer weather with temperatures up to 35 °C and strong Aegean winds

On Tuesday 7 July 2026 the national weather service forecast generally clear skies over Greece with occasional brief clouds in the afternoon. Temperatures on the mainland are expected to reach 33‑35 °C, while the islands will stay near 33 °C. Localised showers and possible thunderstorms are possible in mountainous areas of the north and central regions.

Strong winds will affect the Aegean Sea, with sustained breezes from the north at 3‑5 Beaufort and gusts up to 7 Beaufort in the eastern Aegean; some forecasts mention isolated gusts of up to 8 Beaufort. Meteorologists note a gradual warming trend through mid‑July but do not anticipate an extreme heat‑wave in the immediate term. The combination of high temperatures and strong winds raises the risk of forest‑fire ignition, and sea conditions are expected to be rough along exposed coasts.
