Greece sees temperatures up to 34°C with afternoon showers and thunderstorms
The Hellenic National Meteorological Service forecasts generally clear skies with occasional clouds across mainland Greece and the islands, with daytime temperatures ranging from 28 °C to 31 °C in most areas and reaching 33 °C‑34 °C in eastern mainland regions and Thessaly.
From the afternoon onward, cloud cover will increase, bringing localized rain showers and thunderstorms in many parts of the country—including western and northern Attica, Macedonia, Thessaly, Central Greece and the Cyclades, Crete and other islands. Winds will blow from the south at 3‑5 Beaufort, intensifying locally to 6‑7 Beaufort. Temperatures will remain in the low‑30s.
The same pattern is expected over the next few days: Friday will start clear with afternoon mountain rain, Saturday similar, and Sunday will return to more sunshine with a cooling north‑easterly wind in the Aegean. Summer‑level heat persists throughout the period.
