Greece sees temperatures up to 36 °C with afternoon thunderstorms and fire risk

A national weather service forecast for early June predicts hot conditions across Greece. On Wednesday, 3 June, daytime temperatures are expected to reach 34 °C in most areas, with the eastern mainland climbing to about 32‑34 °C. Thermal instability will bring afternoon showers and isolated thunderstorms to the central and northern mainland, and fire danger is heightened.

Thursday, 4 June, the instability should spread more broadly while temperatures dip slightly. The weekend is forecast to warm again, with highs of 35‑36 °C and an increased risk of wildfires.

For Friday, 5 June, the outlook shifts to generally clear skies with occasional local rain and thunderstorms, especially in the eastern mainland, the Cyclades, Crete and the northern Aegean. Temperatures will stay between 26‑30 °C in most regions, reaching 29‑30 °C in the east. Saturday, 6 June, continues with mostly sunny weather, scattered clouds and possible short‑lived showers in mountainous areas.
