Greece sets Oct 1 2026 deadline for mandatory B2B e‑invoicing, business groups request extension
Greece will require all business‑to‑business (B2B) transactions to be issued electronically from 1 October 2026. Companies with annual revenue above €1 million were already required to join the system on 2 March 2026, while the second phase covers all remaining firms regardless of size.
The Athens Accounting Association (LSA) and the Athens Chamber of Crafts (VEA) have jointly asked the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) to postpone the mandatory start to 1 March 2027 and to extend the deadline for accessing tax incentives linked to the reform to 31 December 2026. They argue that many small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) have not yet completed the technical and organisational changes needed, risking loss of the incentives provided under article 71 of Law 4172/2013.
Businesses can comply by selecting a licensed e‑invoicing provider or by using AADE’s free applications, timologio (desktop) and myDATAapp (mobile). The system automatically forwards invoice data to the myDATA platform, which assigns a unique registration number. The measure aims to digitise invoicing, improve tax monitoring and curb fraud, while the requested extensions seek to give SMEs more preparation time.
