Greek tax authority reports record early filing of 2025 income tax returns

The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) announced that the filing period for the 2025 income‑tax year closed on 24 July 2026 with a new record of early submissions. A total of 6,737,763 individual tax returns were filed ahead of the deadline, 31,672 more than the previous year, covering 8,954,982 taxpayers. Legal entities submitted 385,515 early returns, an increase of almost 23,000.

The average daily intake was 51,433 individual filings and 2,877 corporate filings. Pre‑assessment filings numbered 1,357,222; of these, 889,036 were processed automatically, while 260,431 required a corrective amendment. Challenges to tax‑credit documentation fell by 37 % to 1,645 cases, down from 2,603 the year before.

Director Georgios Pitsilis said, “The 2025 filing period closes with a new record of early submissions, both for individuals and legal persons. We thank the citizens, accountants and all public‑private partners for their timely cooperation.” The electronic filing system opened on 13 March 2026 for legal persons and 16 March 2026 for individuals, marking the second consecutive year of the same schedule.
