Greece achieves economic recovery through structural reforms

Greece has undergone a significant economic transformation following the debt crisis of 2015. Through a series of difficult structural reforms—including pension reductions, increased working hours, and the privatization of state infrastructure—the country has moved toward fiscal resilience. Recent data indicates that the Greek economy is growing faster than the eurozone average, with a recorded growth of 2.1% last year.

Unemployment has dropped significantly from over 25% during the crisis to below 8%. Financial institutions such as Moody’s and Scope Ratings have provided positive evaluations of the country's fiscal stability. Furthermore, Greece has achieved a position where it can borrow at lower interest rates than major economies like France and Italy.

Jane Fraser, CEO of Citi, noted that these targeted reforms have given Greece a leading voice within the EU and NATO. While the macro-economy shows strength and attracts foreign investment, challenges remain regarding the high cost of living, including food, energy, and rent, which continue to impact households and businesses.
