Greece sidelined in West-Turkey strategic shifts, professor claims
Sotiris Serbos, a professor of international politics at Demokritos University, argues that Greece is losing its influence in the strategic restructuring between the West and Turkey. According to Serbos, Turkey has emerged as an indispensable stability partner for Western powers following recent developments in Ukraine and the Middle East.
Serbos asserts that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan does not view Greece as an equal actor in regional affairs. Consequently, Ankara is conducting direct negotiations with Washington and major European capitals, effectively bypassing Athens. The analysis suggests that Greece is being relegated to a spectator role, receiving decisions made by others rather than participating in the decision-making process. Serbos warns that if Greece maintains a rigid stance, it may find itself forced to accept conditions imposed by others.
