Greece signs €137.1M contracts for migrant facility management

The Greek Ministry of Migration and Asylum has signed six major framework agreements for the management and operation of its facilities. The contracts, totaling €137.1 million excluding VAT for a two-year period, cover temporary reception and hosting structures for asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants across the country, including Regional Asylum Offices and Independent Asylum Units.

The agreements include an option to extend the contracts by up to 100%, which could bring the total value to €274.2 million excluding VAT. The services provided by the contractors include cleaning, guarding and security, as well as maintenance and technical support for the facilities.

Minister of Migration and Asylum Thanos Plevris described the contract as the largest the ministry has ever signed in terms of both value and functionality. The procurement process was conducted by the National Development Fund to ensure transparency and efficiency. Key contractors involved in the distribution of geographic sectors include BRINKS, AKTOR, ABAX, UNISON, and GEK TERNA.
