Greece speeds up digital issuance of criminal record certificates, 100,000 processed in 40 days

The Greek Ministry of Justice, together with the Ministry of Digital Governance, launched a new electronic system for issuing criminal‑record certificates. Within the first 40 days of operation the platform automatically produced more than 100,000 copies, allowing citizens and businesses to receive the document in minutes without physically visiting prosecutors' offices.

The system currently handles about 55 % of all requests and is slated to cover 100 % of “white” criminal records within the next four months. In the same period a dedicated team cleared 50,000 pending certificates at the Athens First‑Instance Prosecutor’s Office, further reducing backlogs and freeing judicial staff for other duties.
