Greece starts 2026 Daoktonia pesticide sprays in Messinia, Rethymno
The Regional Unit of Messinia announced that the first pesticide applications of the 2026 Daoktonia programme will begin on Thursday, 25 June, pending favourable weather. Spraying teams will cover several local communities, and growers are asked to clear fields, remove livestock, and cooperate with technicians.
In Crete’s Rethymno unit, the first general spray is scheduled for Monday, 29 June, also subject to temperature limits (under 28 °C) and wind conditions. Farmers are urged to keep their plots open, mark organic areas, and monitor the sprays for up to eight days. The programme, coordinated by regional agricultural directorates, aims to protect olive orchards through monitored pesticide use while respecting environmental regulations.
