Greece submits Foreign Direct Investment bill to Parliament

The Greek Ministry of Development has submitted a bill to Parliament titled ‘New Incentives for Foreign Direct Investment, Restructuring of the Foreign Direct Investment Directorate and Other Provisions’. The legislation aims to establish a coherent and functional framework for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) within key sectors of the Greek economy.

The bill proposes targeted investment incentives for projects funded by non-domestic capital and seeks to implement unified procedures for the evaluation, approval, monitoring, and completion of such investments. Additionally, the bill includes provisions for a special state aid framework and the restructuring of the Foreign Direct Investment Directorate to assign responsibilities to a specialized organizational unit.

The relevant parliamentary committee is scheduled to begin examining the bill next Friday.
