Greece to allow fictitious insurance years for supplementary pensions
The Greek Ministry of Labour is preparing a legislative regulation that would allow insured individuals to use ‘fictitious years of insurance’ to complete the requirements for a supplementary pension. This measure aims to help citizens reach the necessary threshold of 25 years or 4,500 insurance days.
Estimates suggest that over 200,000 workers are currently close to the eligibility limit for supplementary pensions. Under the new rules, those who cannot meet the requirement through actual work time may be able to utilize these fictitious years to qualify.
For primary pensions, the e-EFKA system already recognizes several categories of fictitious time, including military service, studies, parental leave, and periods of unemployment registered with DYPA.
