Greece to Complete €150 Emergency Child Allowance Payments by End August

A supplemental €150 emergency allowance per child will be paid to Greek families whose children were born between 1 January 2025 and 31 July 2026. The payments are scheduled to be completed by 31 August 2024 and are not a new round of benefits; no additional application is required.

The credit will be transferred automatically to the bank account that families have registered with the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE). To receive the payment, the child must be listed as a dependent in the 2025 tax return, the AMKA number must be correctly entered, and a valid IBK must be on file. For births in 2026, parents must obtain an AFM (tax identification number) by 10 August and provide the birth certificate and a parental consent declaration. The allowance is tax‑free, cannot be seized for debts, and does not affect eligibility for other social benefits. Families receive €150 per child, with higher totals for multiple children.
