Greece processes major pension and social benefit payments
Greece is undergoing a major cycle of social benefit and pension payments between late September and early October 2026.
eEFKA is scheduled to pay approximately 1.12 billion euros in October pensions to over 1.6 million beneficiaries, with payments starting around September 29. Additional e-EFKA disbursements include pension advances, disability benefits, and the return of unspent contributions.
OPΕΚΑ will distribute approximately 258.8 million euros to over one million beneficiaries on September 30. This includes child benefits, housing allowances, and minimum guaranteed income. Due to technical issues regarding school enrollment verification via the mySchool system, an extraordinary supplementary payment for approximately 5,000 families is scheduled for October 9.
Additionally, DYPA is managing significant disbursements for unemployment benefits, maternity leave, and employment programs, totaling over 65 million euros. DYPA has also opened applications for 75 fixed-term positions in nursery schools across various regions, with the application window closing on October 8.
In the agricultural sector, the submission of payment requests for CAP 2023-2027 interventions regarding livestock bio-security and farm protection against natural disasters begins on September 30 via the State Aid Information System.
