Greece: Labor fines exceed 25 million euros in first half of 2026

In the first half of 2026, the Greek Labor Inspection Authority conducted over 41,000 inspections, resulting in 8,690 sanctions and fines totaling approximately 25.57 million euros. The inspections focused on undeclared labor, working hours, the implementation of the Digital Work Card, and occupational health and safety. Tourism and hospitality sectors were prioritized during the summer period.

Separately, a significant wave of social security and employment payments is scheduled for late August 2026. e-EFKA and DYPA are set to distribute approximately 2.48 billion euros to over 4.3 million beneficiaries. These disbursements include September pensions, lump-sum payments, unemployment benefits, and maternity leave allowances.

Additionally, taxpayers face several deadlines by August 31, including the second installment of income tax, the sixth installment of the ENFIA property tax, and July VAT declarations for businesses.
