Greece to distribute rent refunds and pensioner allowances in November

The Greek government has announced several rounds of financial support scheduled for late November. On November 30, over one million citizens are expected to receive rent refunds for the 2024 tax year, with payments made directly to bank accounts. Additionally, a double rent refund has been credited to 17,074 educators, doctors, and nurses serving in regional areas, totaling approximately 4.9 million euros.

Simultaneously, a 400-euro allowance is slated for distribution to approximately 2.3 million pensioners, also expected around November 30. This payment will be processed automatically without the need for applications. To qualify, most pensioners must be at least 65 years old by December 31, 2025. Exceptions to this age requirement include survivors' pensioners, who may qualify from age 60 if they do not receive their own pension, as well as uninsured elderly individuals and institutional allowance recipients.
