Greece to launch myDiesel for direct agricultural fuel tax exemptions
Starting November 1, 2026, Greece will implement a new digital system for agricultural diesel, replacing the current tax refund method. Through the new ‘myDiesel’ application developed by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), eligible farmers will receive exemptions from the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) and the corresponding VAT directly at the fuel pump.
The transition aims to simplify the process and reduce the immediate financial burden on agricultural holdings. Instead of paying the full price and waiting for a refund, farmers will pay the reduced price at the time of purchase. The total discount is approximately 50.84 cents per liter, consisting of 41 cents for SCT and 9.84 cents for VAT.
To participate, fuel stations must register in the myDiesel application and ensure their data is updated in the AADE Registry of Public Use Fuel Stations. The application will be available via the myAADE digital portal and mobile devices starting October 22, 2026. For stations, the refund of the SCT will be automated at least every Monday and Thursday following the verification of sales through systems like myDATA or eSend.
