Greece to implement new car first aid kit regulations in 2027

New regulations regarding car first aid kits in Greece will take effect on January 1, 2027. According to the Government Gazette, these rules apply to all motorized vehicles in the country, with the exception of two-wheeled vehicles.

The updated requirements mandate that the kit functions as a complete first aid station rather than a simple pouch. It must contain at least 16 specific items, including rescue blankets, sterile dressings, and wet wipes. The kit's casing must be resistant to dust, moisture, and oils, and all materials must carry the CE mark and comply with the Medical Device Regulation (MDR 2017/745).

Manolis Katsarakis, General Secretary of the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association, noted that kits should not include medications, as high temperatures inside vehicles can compromise their efficacy. He also emphasized the importance of checking sterility expiration dates, which typically occur every five years, and ensuring all required items are present in the correct quantities.
