Greece to implement new car first aid kit standards in 2027
New regulations issued by the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport will mandate updated standards for car first aid kits starting January 1, 2027. The Ministerial Decision Δ30/45652/2026 requires all motorized road vehicles, excluding motorcycles, to carry kits that comply with the DIN 13164:2022 standard or an equivalent ISO standard.
Drivers are advised to check existing kits for expired materials. Sterile items, such as gauze and dressings, typically have a five-year sterilization expiration date; once passed, the integrity of the packaging and sterility can no longer be guaranteed.
The mandatory contents under the new standard include an emergency thermal blanket, adhesive tape, a set of 14 adhesive patches of various sizes, four sterile individual dressings, a sterile burn dressing, six sterile wound compresses, five elastic bandages of different widths, a triangular bandage, trauma scissors, four disposable gloves, two cleansing wipes, two medical masks, and first aid instructions.
