Greece to implement mandatory salary transparency in job ads
Starting November 1, 2026, Greek employers will be required to disclose full compensation details in job advertisements. According to a circular from the Ministry of Labour and Social Security regarding Law 5316/2026, job postings must include not only the base salary but also bonuses, allowances, and any additional benefits to provide candidates with a complete view of the compensation package.
The new regulations also prohibit employers from asking candidates about their previous salary history during the recruitment process. This measure aims to ensure that new compensation is based on the specific role and objective criteria rather than a candidate's past earnings, supporting the principle of equal pay for equal work.
Furthermore, candidates have the right to request information regarding pay scales and gender-based wage gaps for similar roles before their first interview. The regulations also strictly forbid any mention of gender or family status in job advertisements to prevent direct or indirect discrimination.
