Greece to implement new salary transparency hiring rules

Starting November 1, 2026, new hiring regulations under Law 5316/2026 will take effect in Greece to enhance salary transparency. According to the Ministry of Labour, job applicants will have the right to be informed of the initial salary or its range before attending an interview.

Under the amended Article 41 of the Labor Code, employers are prohibited from requesting information regarding a candidate's previous salary history. Instead, compensation must be determined based on objective and gender-neutral criteria specific to the position.

Additionally, employers must provide information regarding relevant collective bargaining agreements applicable to the role. Job advertisements and information must also be provided in an accessible format for persons with disabilities.
