Greece to increase net pay for 53,000 three-child families from 2027
Starting in January 2027, approximately 53,000 employees in Greece with three children will see increases in their monthly net take-home pay due to new tax relief measures. The changes stem from a policy announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to reduce the tax burden on large families.
The measure involves zeroing out income tax on the first 20,000 euros of annual income for taxpayers with three children. When combined with existing tax credits of up to 1,340 euros, the annual tax-free income threshold for these employees will rise by 11,000 euros, increasing from 14,364 euros to 25,364 euros.
In the public sector, where 12 monthly salaries are paid annually, the net monthly increase can reach up to 150 euros for those earning 2,200 euros or more before tax. In the private sector, where 14 monthly salaries are typically calculated, the monthly benefit stabilizes at approximately 128.57 euros for those earning 2,000 euros or more before tax.
