Greece to issue supplementary 150 euro child allowance by end of August
A supplementary payment of 150 euros per child is expected to be completed by the end of August 2026. This emergency financial aid targets families who were not included in the initial disbursement phase due to administrative or timing issues.
The payment primarily covers families who had children in 2025 but were not reflected in previous tax declarations, as well as children born between January 1, 2025, and July 31, 2026. For the latter group, parents must have applied for a Tax Identification Number (AFM) for the child by August 10.
No new application is required for the disbursement, as data is cross-referenced through existing registries and tax declarations. However, parents must ensure that the child is correctly listed as a dependent in the 2025 tax year, that the child's Social Security Number (AMKA) is registered, and that a valid IBAN is linked to a parent's bank account in the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) system. The allowance is non-seizable, tax-free, and will not be offset against public debts.
