Greece to provide €400 one-time bonus to 2.2 million pensioners
The Greek government has confirmed that approximately 2.2 million pensioners and welfare recipients will receive a one-time €400 bonus on November 30. Announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the payment will be deposited automatically into bank accounts without requiring an application. This year's bonus is an increase from the previous €300 amount and carries no income or asset restrictions for eligible recipients, which include pensioners over 65, survivors' pension recipients over 60, people with disabilities, and uninsured elderly individuals receiving benefits through OPEKA.
Separately, the Unified Social Security Fund (e-EFKA) is conducting pension recalculations for approximately 35,000 pensioners due to data discrepancies and updated calculation rules. This process focuses on individuals with over 30 years of insurance history. While the average retroactive payment for those affected is estimated at approximately €3,000, the actual amount varies based on individual insurance records and service periods.
