Greece to raise national pensions by up to 3% starting Jan 2027

From 1 January 2027 Greece will apply a new pension‑increase mechanism that eliminates the offsetting “personal difference” for about 670,000 retirees who retired before the Katrougkalos law. The personal difference, which previously absorbed the annual increase, will no longer reduce pension payments, allowing the full increase to reach retirees’ bank accounts.

The increase is estimated between 2.6 % and 3 %, calculated as the average of inflation and economic growth divided by two. It will affect the national pension and linked benefits such as survivor, disability, and expatriate pensions. Final amounts will be fixed by the end of 2026 when the latest inflation and growth data are available.
