Greece to see soaring temperatures and scattered thunderstorms in early June

Meteorologists forecast that Greece will experience a spell of high temperatures through the first ten days of June. Model forecasts from ECMWF, GFS and ICON predict maximum daytime temperatures ranging from 31 °C to 35 °C, with the hottest readings expected on 8 June (up to 35 °C in the ICON scenario). Minimum temperatures are projected around 8‑9 °C.

The Greek National Meteorological Service (EMY) warns that, despite the overall clear skies, localised cloud development will bring brief showers and isolated thunderstorms, especially over the mainland’s eastern Macedonia and Thrace regions. Winds will shift north‑westerly, reaching 6 bft on the coast. Similar, though less intense, convective activity is expected in the western mountains and the Ionian area on subsequent days.

Overall, the weather outlook suggests a warm early‑summer pattern with occasional rain‑showers and strong gusts in specific inland and coastal zones.
