Greece to use AI for digital audits of product prices
The Hellenic Competition Commission and the Ministry of Development are launching a digital initiative to combat unjustified price increases driven by the energy crisis. The plan involves using artificial intelligence and specialized algorithms to conduct millions of digital audits across the country.
A dedicated team of programmers and IT experts will develop algorithms to scan massive databases containing thousands of products and services daily. This digital radar aims to identify instances where price hikes are not justified by increases in raw materials, packaging, or transportation costs.
The monitoring will target essential goods and services that significantly impact household budgets, including food, coffee, dairy, meat, fuel, insurance, and e-commerce. Once the digital system flags suspicious activity, specialized officials will conduct targeted, in-depth inspections to ensure market fairness.
