Kyriakos Mitsotakis to unveil four-year economic plan at Thessaloniki International Fair
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is preparing to unveil a comprehensive four-year economic roadmap at the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) this September. The plan, which extends through 2030, aims to provide long-term economic certainty for businesses, households, and citizens by combining wage increases, production support, and increased investment.
The proposed package of measures, which could reach a total cost of 7 billion euros, carries a strong pre-election character as the government looks toward the 2027 elections. Key focus areas include tax relief, pension increases, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises, farmers, and the self-employed. Specific measures under consideration include reducing social security contributions, lowering tax advances, and potentially increasing the minimum wage above 950 euros by 2027.
To fund these initiatives, the government is seeking additional fiscal space. This includes a request to the European Commission to expand the National Escape Clause for energy resilience investments exceeding 1 billion euros through 2028. Such investments would target energy storage, efficiency, and critical infrastructure. Additionally, the government plans to finalize the abolition of ENFIA for primary residences in settlements with fewer than 1,500 inhabitants.
